A steam/sauna will help you enjoy warm clouds of steam and complete relaxation while receiving the beneficial effects of opening the pores, flushing out impurities- leaving the skin clean and fresh, and sweating off hundreds of calories. For this to be done it is important to have the right steam/sauna that will fit your home.
The difference between a steam bath and a sauna
A steam bath uses a steam generator. This device heats water directly. The steam room fills completely with condensed vapor and clouds of steam. The humidity exceeds 100% and the temperatures are much lower than those of the sauna.
On the other hand, all saunas have a radiant air heater, which has a container of volcanic stones. These stones retain and radiate heat more consistently. The stones can also be sprinkled with water to produce the "wet" sauna.
Choosing the correct size
Sauna heaters are like air conditioners… you need to have the correct one for it to perform correctly in your particular room. The length, width and height of your room need to be taken into consideration to find a heater that can handle the volume you need. In general, saunas can range from 4' X 4' to 10' X 20' the most common sizes are 5' X 6' to 7' X 8'.
Sauna location
A sauna can be installed anywhere in your home; inside, outside, upstairs or downstairs. All that is needed is a water resistant floor (ie. no carpeting).
Steam generator location
A steam generator can be installed anywhere inside of your home.
Steam generator ventilation
A steam generator does not need to be vented outside but it might be best to have an exhaust fan in the area where the outlet vent is located.
